When our communities thrive and can focus on their health first, we know we’re making an impact. That’s why Humana Healthy Horizons, our Medicaid division, invested $500K this year to 24 different nonprofits and community organizations across Louisiana. The investments are aimed at addressing a number of social and medical risk factors including maternal health, food insecurity, chronic condition management and behavioral health. Rural communities are increasingly choosing Medicare Advantage, with enrollment quadrupling in rural areas between 2010 and 2023. More than 1.8 million Medicare beneficiaries living in counties with less than 10,000 people chose a MA plan last year. MA plans provide rural communities with access to care through both in-clinic care and in-home options. And, MA plans in rural communities often provide supplemental benefits such as dental, vision and hearing for no additional premium beyond the Part B premium.
