Restoring self, preserving family

About us

Mission The Morton Center provides help and support to individuals and loved ones in breaking the cycle of substance use. At The Morton Center, we recognize that alcoholism and other addictions affect the entire family. We always have. Since 1984, The Morton Center has provided outpatient treatment to nearly 40,000 people of all ages and incomes throughout Kentucky and beyond… including family members. We’re the region’s only privately funded, non-profit facility treating chemical dependency and other addictions. A recent study showed that people being treated for substance abuse who have two or more instances of family involvement during their course of care have three times the completion rate of those who have no family involvement.” Our family focus is a proven approach that sets us apart. There’s growing statistical evidence that treating the impact of addiction on the family enhances success rates for both the addicted person and their family members. More than treatment Something else sets us apart. We believe that addiction can’t be separated from the person. So, we treat the whole person, not just their addiction. We’re a counseling center, where our professional staff treats a person’s social, mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being. The Morton Center uses the 12 Steps of recovery… in conjunction with treating the whole person – including family members

Hey Louisville, it's time to shine a bright light on our incredible fight against opioid addiction! BIG NEWS: Mayor Craig Greenberg and the Opioid Settlement Advisory Board have earmarked $5.3 MILLION for 21 different projects across our city. The Morton Center, The Healing Place, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Department of Public Health and Wellness are all set to receive funding. These agencies are about to do even more AMAZING things in the battle against addiction. Meet Eric Meyer, a living testament to the power of recovery. Once lost in a dark struggle with substances, he found his way back and is now a clinical therapist at The Morton Center. He says, "Knowing that grant funds are available for people who are ready for change and really be down and are looking for a way out and the Morton Center is able to give them that, that's special man." Since 1984, The Morton Center has provided support to over 58,000 people and their families. Now, they're about to receive an additional $400,000 to further their mission. CEO of the Morton Center, Priscilla McIntosh says, "This grant is going to give us the opportunity to save so many lives, but also thinking about the next generation and the next generation and breaking that cycle of addiction." These funds mean MORE support, MORE services, and MORE opportunities for not only adults, but children and teenagers too. Louisville, THIS IS HUGE. But don't just take it from us. Hear it directly from Eric and McIntosh. Click the link below to watch the full interview. https://lnkd.in/gQ9AtbpR Together, we are breaking the cycle of addiction.
