You Decide, Kentucky! (YDK!) is excited for the release of our Year-End Report, detailing the tremendous growth and work across Kentucky in 2023. YDK! Co-Chairs Mayor Suzie Razmus of Corbin and Carter Hendricks of Hopkinsville write in the report: "Two years ago, YDK! was a start-up organization with little financial support, a small but passionate board, and facing the herculean task of educating citizens on the importance of pro-growth local tax reform providing local communities with more tools and greater accountability. Now, we are an organization with a dedicated, driven, and determined statewide Board of Directors, strong financial footing thanks to contributors from all over the Commonwealth, and legislators that know who we are and what our effort can mean for the Commonwealth of Kentucky." Looking to the year ahead, Executive Director Lena Muldoon declares that "2024 is all about sharp investments in the areas our Board of Directors has identified as most pressing and efficient: message-testing, marketing, voter targeting, and grassroots coordination." Thank you to all of our partners and stakeholders for allowing us to reach this stage. Here's to another year of empowering citizens and local governments to decide what revenue streams will improve the quality of life in their communities.

Educating and empowering Kentuckians on local revenue modernization.
About us
You Decide, Kentucky! is a statewide initiative focused on engaging, educating, and galvanizing people and organizations across the Commonwealth to achieve a shared goal: Empowering citizens and local governments to decide what revenue streams will improve the quality of life in their communities. Doing that requires modernizing the outdated and complex tax code of the Kentucky Constitution, giving authority to the General Assembly to enable revenue-raising options at the county and municipal level. Learning from and building upon previous efforts, You Decide, Kentucky! places a significant focus on creating a strong, multi-partisan coalition of citizens — rural and urban, progressive and conservative, private citizens and public officials — needed to influence change in Frankfort and positively impact communities around the state. Our team has formed a 501(c)3 organization, assembled an executive committee, and launched a multi-year campaign to help unlock the capital needed to fund more community-centered, local initiatives across the Commonwealth. Join the effort and help Kentucky take this important step. Get connected with us at YouDecideKentucky@gmail.com.

You Decide, Kentucky! is excited to announce the recent endorsement by the Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL)! YPAL has been boldly providing leadership development, connection, and support to Louisville’s young professionals for the benefit of the local community for 25 years now. In our mutual commitment to the betterment of Kentucky communities, this partnership further demonstrates the strength of the YDK! coalition to reach every corner and constituency of Kentucky for the sake of our future. Thanks to the YPAL Board of Directors for their belief in the Kentucky we know is possible. Together, we will unlock the door to our full potential.

A town in Iowa is using flexibilities in how they can generate revenue to lower property taxes AND add more police. Kentucky cities and counties don't have the same options. #KYGA24

Today we celebrate YDK!'s very own Jennifer Hancock (Volunteers of America Mid-States), who was recently featured by The Kentucky Gazette as part of the 2023 Notable Women in Politics and Government! We are so grateful for the many contributions Jennifer makes to the Commonwealth and her tireless commitment to strengthening our communities for the better. Congratulations to all of the Kentucky women named for this remarkable achievement!

"From the coal fields in the east to the river counties in the west, Kentucky’s cities and counties have varied economies and different needs. Why does it make any sense to force them all to generate revenue the same way?" This past weekend, YDK! featured an op-ed from YDK! co-chairs Mayor Suzie Razmus and Carter Hendricks in the Lexington Herald-Leader. Don't miss it and the chance to keep up with our efforts to modernize how Kentucky’s cities and counties provide for their communities to continue to grow and prosper. https://lnkd.in/eiut7fpC
