About us

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one. Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world. Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind. You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.

All of these clips were shot by Amazonians around the world who not only enjoy the environment but work hard to protect it. 🌱 🌲 We have over 10,000 Sustainability Ambassadors who are inspiring customers, partners, communities, and coworkers to keep our environment top of mind, and they have been critical to Amazon's own decarbonization journey. We’re setting big goals and working backwards to achieve them, and that includes reaching net-zero carbon by 2040. ♻️ Happy Earth Day, from all of us at Amazon. 🌍 Learn more about what Amazon is doing to fight climate change: https://amzn.to/4b8FyVP #EarthDay #AmazonSustainability #Sustainability

Ever wonder why Earth Day is held on April 22? It's because, back at the inception of Earth Day in 1970, April 22 fell between spring break and final exams, making it an optimal time for student participation. And while many of us aren’t in school, you're probably wondering how we are participating, not just on Earth Day but every day of the year. Here are some things we are doing to decarbonize and help preserve natural ecosystems around the world: 📦 Since 2015, we’ve avoided more than 2 million tons of packaging by doing things like swapping from plastic to paper packaging where possible and using new technologies that create the right size box or bag for products, which avoids the use of extra materials. 🚛 We're electrifying our last-mile delivery fleet by committing to over 100,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road by 2030, a project that will help eliminate millions of metric tons of carbon per year. 🚲 We’re increasing the use of zero-carbon emission transportation methods like e-bikes in dense urban areas, electric rickshaws in India, and the world’s first zero-emission cargo ship. 🌊 According to the United Nations, roughly half of the world’s population is experiencing severe water scarcity for at least part of the year. So to date, we are delivering 3.9 billion liters of water to local communities each year through Amazon Web Services (AWS) water replenishment projects – the equivalent of 1,560 Olympic pools. 👨🌾 We’ve partnered with agroforestry start-ups in Brazil and Peru to help farmers develop new sources of income while increasing their ability to store more carbon on their land. 🔋 We built the first-ever arena in the world to achieve a Zero Carbon Certification. The The Climate Pledge Arena features sustainable components like all-electric operations and 100% renewable electricity sources, both from on-site solar panels and off-site renewable energy. ♻ We’ve enabled more than 500 wind and solar projects around the world in pursuit of matching 100% of the non-renewable electricity consumed by our global operations by 2025. Once they’re operational, they are expected to generate more than 77,000 gigawatt-hours of clean energy each year. That’s enough to power 7.2 million U.S. homes! 🌲 We created the $100-million-dollar Right Now Climate Fund to help finance community-focused projects to mitigate the impacts of climate change. This includes planting 450,000 trees in the UK, restoring oyster colonies along the Puget Sound, and training 9,000 students on how to fight climate change in Spain. We know the responsibility that we hold to create an environment that addresses some of the world’s biggest environmental and societal challenges. We’re setting big goals and working backwards to achieve them. There is much more to do, and we’re rolling up our sleeves and getting to it. "I think the one thing that we've seen pretty consistently in this relatively early stage of generative AI is that customers want choice." Our CEO, Andy Jassy, sat down with Andrew Ross Sorkin on CNBC's Squawk Box to talk about all things #GenAI - including how Amazon Bedrock offers customers the widest selection of industry-leading foundation models to help them build exciting new generative AI applications. And as of today, Claude 3 Opus is now available on Amazon Bedrock.
