I had previously heard this was a great place to go, but I'm always skeptical with mechanics. Scott has been such a pleasant surprise!! I showed up (unknowingly) 15 min after closing time and he was still willing to talk to me for 30 min about my issue. After just a couple minutes it was very apparent he knew his shi....
I have been there twice now and couldn't recommend him more. It hasn't been for anything major, but he's been beyond honest and chose to not charge me even for his diagnostic time and recommended me to a warranty repair option at the dealership instead of me paying him to do it. So I now know his honesty is enough for me to default to him anytime I need work.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jay H.Louisville, KY02Aug 9, 2022
How shall I start? I don't particularly care myself for long reviews, so I'll keep it short.
D&S Automotive, is a great place to take your car and I imagine your truck as well. I took my old Lincoln there for Scott to work on and I gave him a list of things I wanted done. I found Scott to be honest and not necessarily with the opinion that the customer is always right. There were at least three things on my list that Scott told me I didn't need to spend money on because nothing was wrong with them. Scott saved me money on parts and labor with his honesty. Maybe the customer isn't always right because Scott could've just said he would do as I requested knowing that they were not necessary. I appreciate that honesty and I'm sure he saved me over $500.00 not including labor.
Scott kept me updated on the progress of the work on the Lincoln and where we stood on the different things I had asked to be done.He even got the air conditioning running. I shared with Scott it was so cold as I was driving it one day this past summer, that I had to turn it off.
Scott doesn't mind sharing his knowledge on old Lincoln's, auto parts and his overall mechanical expertise. I'm very careful with who I let work on my Lincoln. I was a little cautious because this was my first time going to D&S Automotive Company. It was like taking your two-year-old child to a new daycare to be left with strangers.
I was pleased with the work that was done and would feel comfortable leaving my Lincoln baby in the hands of Scott anytime.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jd S.Louisville, KY046Oct 15, 2019
When you find a good mechanic, you want to share the information. D&S have been keeping my vehicles on the road for years now. I dropped my MIL' s van off the other day and bumped into another friend I'd recommended Daniel and Scott to.
They do a great job, they stand behind their work, and it is fairly priced. Can't ask for more than that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Scott B.Louisville, KY23212Dec 15, 2019
I recent had odd headlight issues on my wife's car. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly her car could be seen. The issue was correctly diagnosed and resolved at a reasonable price. I have become a long term customer.

These guys are great! I brought my car in having issues with the breaks and exhaust pipe. They worked hard to get me the most affordable but high quality solution and also thoroughly explained things with kindness and not condescension. I'd recommend them to anyone for any car related needs.

After years of searching for a trusted auto mechanic repair shop, we finally found one with D&S. Scott is extremely knowledgeable and is always excited to help with any problem-- and our older 1998 Jeep Cherokee had a lot. D&S restored the inside of the Jeep to like-new condition for a great price.
Throughout the process, Scott was patient in explaining the steps needed to make the Jeep as good as possible. All the mechanics are friendly and helpful. They are happy to be there and happy you are there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - ahmer m.Louisville, KY02Aug 19, 2017
This is in my opinion the best place to take your car to get repaired. Honesty because of how honest they are. I was hesitant to take my Mustang to get lowering springs installed, since I hate dropping her of everywhere. They took really good care of her. They also took the time to explain everything I needed to know about a lowered car. I have another car that I need to take there and I will be going there soon. Definitely recommend them

I just want to write a review for something that happened a few years ago. Sometimes we fail to let people know when they do things that they don't have to do to help people. It was just before your store opened. The shop was getting ready to open. I was actually living in Lexington but traveling to Louisville every week. One of my friends had recommended you because my Ford Focus was making a terrible noise everytime I drove it. I believe it was Daniel told me to come to his house and he would look at it for me. His wife and little boy was there and he took it for a test drive. As it turned out my entire engine as being held in by ONE bolt. So Daniel actually saved my life. Driving up and down 64 I am sure it was only a matter of time until the whole thing gave out. He really didn't even want to charge me but I paid him anyway. So I am not sure what other reviews are about on here but I can assure you he has my business and all of my friends that I tell about. Because he did way more than just fix my Ford Focus. He could have told me anything but he was honest..... That's the most important....

This place is HORRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!
My husband called and spoke with an employee at the shop about getting a tune up done on our car. He told him that I would be bringing it by to have the FREE diagnostic exam done, and making an appointment to bring it back the following day to have the repairs done on it. The employee said that was fine. My husband also let him know that I would have to wait for the diagnostic exam, because I didn't have any other way to get back home., the employee also said that was fine and it wouldn't take long at all and I could wait.
I come in to have the diagnostics ran. As soon as I got out of the car I was a little confused as to where the office was. I asked a man that was working there and he very rudely said "uhh, probably in the back where the sign is I would think." I was a little put off by his attitude but just ignored it. When I got to the office there was a young blond guy in there. I told him that my husband had called and he said he remembered. He asked if I was ready to drop off the car. I reminded him that I was going to have to wait while he ran the test and would be coming back for repairs tomorrow. He then got an attitude and said " I f***ing told your husband you could not wait here." I was really surprised and just told him that I would be dropping the car off tomorrow and leaving while the repairs where done. He then informed me that since I wasn't having the repairs done the same day he wanted to charge me $200 for the diagnostic exam! I asked him why he told my husband differently on the phone, and he basically said my husband didn't listen and it wasn't his fault.
I know my husband , and I know he makes sure to get ALL the information about everything before we take our car in. He also always makes notes of everything said so that we know. This man at the shop was lying to me. At this point, I was getting angry. I had my 3 year old with me and just told him that I would be taking my business somewhere else. I found a VERY NICE place that did an AMAZING job in Hikes Point really close to my house, and gave me a WAY better price too!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

wow! we have never spoken to a lady the way you said we spoke with you. if that ever happened in this shop then that tech would be searching for a new job. and neither myself nor daniel would ever do that. our operating procedure for any type of diagnostics is always to have you drop your car off with us and that still holds the same to this day. there is no computer in the world that will tell us what is wrong with your car and that is a common misconception that folks have about diagnostics.pulling codes from a check engine light is not diagnostics it is just a code for a area or system with a failure and it dosent always take you to the rite place of the failure and that is where the diagnostics begin. its simply a tool to help us shorten the diagnostic process thats it. and that is coming from 2 very experienced diagnostic techs whom are both MASTER ASE L1 advanced level certified in diagnostics. your husband was informed like everyone else we have come in for diagnostics to drop off the car that we dont let folks wait for diagnostics of any kind since its a process and takes time to do so and is sometimes not just cut and dry. and we never diagnosed your car or gave you a price so how did the other shop give you a better price than us? you became very irate with us and for what reason we dont know and began cursing us for not stopping what we doing to diagnose your car rite at that very moment and it was completely uncalled for. we simply asked you to please leave after you started yelling at us for no reason and you continued to keep yelling at us on your way out and the cameras we keep in the shop confirm our take on this as well. the harsh side of this conversation did not come from our side what so ever.i would say we kept great composure during the conversation that day. we treat as many folks we can like friends and i doubt theres anybody around here that would say otherwise im sure. im glad your car was repaired even if it wasnt by us thats all we want for anyone. we are trying to change how people look and feel about the mechanics in the world and to act as you stated we did would go against everything we started this place for. i would still help you all in the future at any point in time with no ill feelings what so ever. and i am sorry we got to meet this way since we are from the neighborhood and see our customers regularly out and about. an entire portion of the city cant be wrong and have the same opinion of us and one person say we treated them like dirt over a previous phone conversation or misunderstanding. we pour a lot into being the best at what we do and thats never going to change as long as myself (scott) and daniel are around. if you ever need help or advise we will be here to help the best we can as always. scott.

This place is great. I started taking my cars here a few years back based on word of mouth, and I have yet to be disappointed. I have had the guys at D & S work on 3 cars over a few years now, and I always bring my cars back for anything else. They are always so kind to give me advice and input on what the problems are, what the best solution is, the cheapest solution is, and the give warnings on how to avoid problems in the future, or how to prevent similar problems in the future.
They have always checked over my car for free, and told me the problems and costs of fixing these problems, then I can walk away without paying anything if I don't think it's worth the cost. They will also tell you cheaper less ideal options if you want to save money but still get the job done for the time being. They know not every customer is looking to keep their car for life, and just needs something to take them from point A to point B. They go over all options with the customer to find what's right for them. When I decide I do want them to do the work, or get parts for me, they are usually very fast getting work done same day or next day at this point (unless it's a major overhaul or requires a super rare part).
They can be very busy since they are so good and great to work with, so I suggest calling ahead if you can plan on dropping a car off at a certain time. This will speed up your process even more.
They've never been anything other than overly helpful and looking out for what's best for the customer. They never pressure you into anything, and always give you options, or you can even walk away without feeling pressured or guilty. I've never been lied to or tricked into paying for unnecessary repairs (like I have at other service shops). These guys are amazing, and me, my wife, my parents, and my sister all go to D & S now due to their great customer first attitude, knowledge, quick work, and honesty. I recommend them to anyone looking for an honest mechanic in Louisville. I no longer live in Hikes Point, but still go out of my way to take my cars there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
